A few years before the fake pandemic put my public speaking career on hiatus (now recovering slowly), I spoke at a private school somewhere in America. When I arrived on site, the principal told me she was a long-time fan and showed me a photo of her and her husband standing in front of my house in New Bern, North Carolina. She told me she’d knocked on the door to no avail.
After I spoke, as Willie and I were getting ready to depart the school for our hotel, the principal and a female friend of hers asked if I would agree to a photo of just me and said friend.
“Sure,” I said, moving into position next to my photo-mate.
“May I put my arm around behind you?” I asked. “You know…it’s that MeToo thing.”
The principal lowered the camera, glared at me, and snarled, “That was just disgusting!”
She took the photo, then stalked away, making it pretty clear she wanted nothing more to do with me. Fame is fleeting.
