Stacie MacDonald Jones is a nine-year member of the North Carolina Psychology Board. Writing in the Summer 2023 issue of the NCPB newsletter, Ms. Jones emphasizes that the Psychology Board’s primary responsibility – Ms. Jones calls it a “duty” – is that of protecting the public. Her actual words are “NCBP members have a sworn duty to protect the public.”
Protect the public from what? Ms. Jones does not answer that question, so one is left to assume that the Board’s sworn duty is to protect the public from psychological malpractice, fraud, deception, and other forms of malfeasance.
