In this Substack, I am going to prove that God exists, and I am going to prove it beyond a mere shadow of doubt. The God of Whom I refer is not Allah or Osiris or Ganesha or any of the other gods of various cultures across the planet, but the One True God, the Lord God of Hebrew and Christian scripture. Are you ready? Some of you probably aren’t, but if “some of you” includes you, I encourage you to read on just to prove to yourself that you are open-minded, which nearly everyone claims to being. I don’t, by the way. Open-mindedness often translates to a perpetual state of confusion.
It is generally thought, even within the Christian world, that religion and science are in conflict. That’s true of some religions, but it’s not true of authentic Judaism and it’s not true of authentic Christianity. Both of those religious expressions believe the so-called “Old” Testament is God-breathed, and in proving that the One True God of the Old and New Testaments is real, I will also prove that certain recent scientific discoveries and Judeo-Christian scripture are amazingly, astoundingly congruent.
Within the last hundred years, for example, astrophysicists have come to almost unanimous agreement that the universe began in a massive explosion of light plasma known as the Big Bang. The Bang has no space/time dimensions, which means it emanated out of nothing. Because most of the scientists in question were or are atheist, some Christian influencers vehemently deny the truth of the Big Bang. That knee-jerk reaction is unfortunate if for no reason other than it confirms in the minds of many non-believers that Christians are an intellectually sluggish lot.
Besides – here I go with Proof of God Number One – the Big Bang is clearly described in the first book of the Bible, the Book of Genesis; specifically, the first chapter of Genesis, verse 3: “And God said, ‘Let there be light, and there was light.’” Moses, the fellow who recorded those words, lacked any means of knowing that the universe began in a massive explosion of light, and yet he described the Big Bang as accurately as Second-Millennium B.C. Hebrew allowed. Consider, Genesis does not say God caused the stars and planets to burst forth. It describes precisely what science has affirmed—a bursting forth of pure light.
Okay, so one might argue that Moses was a highly imaginative guy possessing of a poetic talent and attribute his description of the Big Bang to coincidence, in which case, let us proceed to Proof of God Number Two.
Astrophysicists have determined that the first event to occur after the moment of the Bang was the separation of dark matter from light matter. That event occurred before even one second of time had elapsed. At this time, I’m not going to get into dark matter physics except to say that dark matter is evidence of the supernatural realm. More on that in a later Substack. Hang on to your hats!
For now, concerning the separation of light and dark matter, we again have perfect science/scripture congruence, because the very next lines of Genesis (chapter 1, verses 4 and 5) read, “And God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light ‘day’ and the darkness He called ‘night.’”
Hello? Is that mind-boggling, or what? Yes, it’s mind-boggling to all whose minds are capable of being boggled. Now, some might say that the words “day” and “night” in those two verses of Genesis describe God creating the periods of sunlight and shadow that human beings normally associate with those words. That can’t be the case for the simple reason that the text tells us that God did not create the sun and moon until the fourth creation period. Obviously, the words “day” and “night” in Genesis 1:4 – 5 do not mean what they mean in Genesis 1:18, nor do the words “light” and “darkness.”
The idea that Moses simply plucked a description of the separation of light and dark matter out of his imagination is beyond preposterous. And those two examples are not the end of Moses’ uncanny ability to correctly describe what is known scientific fact. He goes on to describe the earth as being initially covered in water. How did he know that? Then he describes what happened as tectonic and volcanic forces forced solid ground above the level of the sea. How’d he know that? He describes sea animals as being the first form of life. How’d he know that?
Moses knowing those things is incontrovertible evidence of Supernatural influence on what he wrote. To be specific, as Hebrew sages have claimed for more than three thousand years, God dictated the first five books of the Bible—the Pentateuch—to Moses. Furthermore, God told Moses to write descriptions of scientific fact that would not be discovered until the Twentieth Century.
If you’re still skeptical, then I invite anyone so bold to explain the amazing congruence between science and scripture found in the first chapter of Genesis in terms that do not involve the Supernatural. Yahweh. The One True Lord God, Creator of all, seen and unseen. I wait, with bated breath.
